The Cottage Experience

Railway Cottage was our family home for over ten years and when we renovated the cottage we set to improving the amenities while retaining the charm and character of the property. All the interior doors were hand built to accommodate the resizing of all the frames. The fireplace is constructed from locally sourced stone. The fire rests on solid slate bed and is crowned with large hewn oak mantel.

The fire was installed as a traditional yet environmentally considerate feature and a key feature of the property is its primary dependence on the solid fuel fire and solar generation for central heating and hot water. (There is electrical emersion heat as an alternative/supplementary source.)

The fire also creates a warm focal point in the evenings as you relax after a day of activity.

The fire will be set for your arrival.

The house will be sufficiently stocked with wood and coal for the duration of your stay.

If staying in the summer then the easy access to the garden allows lunches and suppers to be enjoyed outdoors. Children often enjoy waving to the trains that occasionally pass.
